Abstract:

This empirical study investigates the structural factors underlying youth underemployment in Sri Lanka, focusing on the mismatch between formal secondary educational curricula and contemporary technological demands in the private sector.

Key Findings & Policy Implications:

• Structural skill gaps are most prominent in data literacy and communicative economics.
• Regional vocational centers require modernization and tighter industry linkages.
• Secondary school economics should incorporate applied empirical coursework.
